>> a chp officer shot and killed a man after a struggle today this, is a picture from the scene. it showed where the officer pulled over the driver. the officer says the man tacked her, she opened fire, killing him at about 2:00 this afternoon on highway 29 officers kept it open to traffic. >> one section of the port of oakland was closed after a worker was crushed by a crane. he was doing maintenance work. the crane crushed his head and chest. did he not make it. cal osha shut down the terminal to investigate. the other six terminals remained open. >> hayward police search forward a weapon in a school yard after arresting two robbery suspects in a neighborhood. the martin luther king middle school and south gate elementary were locked down just after 11:00 this morning.

officers searched for that gun. police chased the suspects in a stolen car before they crashed and were then caught. it's uncertain if robbers add a gun when stealing jewelry from a victim. >> a police chase through the streets of san francisco ended when three suspected burglars slammed their dmoor a ucsf parking garage. they cracked open his garage door with their vehicle. the burglars drove off, lost control of their truck and crashed into a wall inside of a loading dock of the ucsf garage. a third escaped. no one was injured in the chase or crash. >> morale at the san jose police department is hitting a low amid pay cuts and an officer says time card fraud is rampant. tonight he spoke with car rena rusk.

right. this complaint is the second of its kind this year in june. two other san jose police officers are also on duty say they face retaliation for raising the issue of time card fraud. thomas served in the police department 27 years as a bilang wall officer. >> every day, i was so energetic. every day it was a dream. >> that dream came to an end. he filed a lawsuit. the resident spent most of the last seven years patrolling san jess yeah international airport. claiming fellow officers went mountain bike riding, out to eat or took a movie when supposed to be working. >> training, wink, wink, that night, that wednesday, training. wink, wink. >> he says he was forced to retire after his team labeled him a snitch and started retaliating against him.

it began in october, 2010 when he left a pizza party. >> oh. i crossed a line and ruined a free night. that has been -- that is the culture. you know? do very to do what people do? no. just because people say it's okay doesn't mean it's okay. >> he is suing the city, police department, and two individual officers. the police department says there is not a wide spread problem of time card fraud and when it is suspected, it is investigated, and prosecuted. last week, police aest ared one of their own for grand theft. >> as a police officer last thing that we want here in-house at the police department is a dirty cop. it hurts the community and us as an organization. it's wrong. >> he says recent cuts and pension reform measures angered many officers and says the cheaters feel entitled to work the system.

how many people might have been compromised but they're working to try to figure that out right now. barns and noble says it was targeted by quote a criminal effort. one pin pad at each of the 63 stores bugged with a device to steal numbers and their pins. the bookstore has not said if it knows when tampering began but ended september 14th when the company disconnected the pin pads in stores. >> they didn't have proper safeguards in place. >> the president and ceo of data security company helped retailers protect data through an enjipgs system. >> idea behind encryption is that we wrap data with safeguards immediately. regardless of where it goes it's protected. >> barns and mobile says fbi is investigating and told the company it did not have to inform the company about this

san rafael airport acting as the largest solar farm in marin county. tonight abc 7 news explains why a few people aren't happy about it. >> this is the san rafael airport. 4600 solar panels are now attached to 48 hangar roof tops. paul is with a company that builds and installs the panels. >> it's an ideal location. have you existing roves. you're not building new structures.. >> this installation will create energy to power 700 homes, more in the summer. it's the largest renewable energy project in marin county. bob hertz manages the airport, which has been running on solar power since 2004.

a hercules middle schoolteacher was busted for having marijuana on campus, police say they found a pound of pot in the car. they were looking for an id because. the 66-year-old was arrested at the principal's office. >> the state correction department says it's returning its focus to rehabilitating inmates instead of just warehousing them. it says that 20,000 low risk prisoners have been transferred now and now has room and funds to offer classes, group therapy and

i need to cancel. >> dish said she signed a two year commitment. it would cost $420 to cancel. >> i said this has been 24 hours. >> hope tried to invoke state law as will youing three days to cancel many types of consumer contracts but got no response. i was so scared of the $420 they sent me a bill. it will come out of the your ak. >> hope contacted 7 on your side. and we checked out the rule. turns out there are state laws requiring a cooling off period for many types of contracts signed in the home. like other satellite customers, hope signed her contract at home. however... officials tell us it's not clear whether it's it allows to satellite tv companies sense they order over the tone. we asked dish about the rules. and it said only we handle every customer interaction on
